The 10-Minute Weekly Idea Review That Keeps Your Pipeline Full

If you capture well, you will soon face the opposite problem: a pile. Left alone, the pile turns into background guilt, and guilt makes you stop capturing. The antidote is a tiny ritual: the weekly idea review.

Ten minutes, four verbs

  • Develop: the idea excites you now. Move it along, add the first task.
  • Park: good, but not now. Give it a date or leave it in its area.
  • Merge: it is really part of another idea. Drag it onto that project.
  • Delete: it was caffeine, not insight. Remove it without ceremony.

Every raw capture gets exactly one verb. No re-reading, no rewriting, no "I will decide later", later is what the review is.

Why deleting is the superpower

People hoard ideas because deleting feels like killing a possibility. It is the reverse: every stale idea you keep dilutes attention from the live ones. A pipeline is healthy when everything in it is something you would actually make.

Your idea list should read like a menu, not a landfill.

Make it a fixed appointment

Sunday evening or Monday morning, calendar it. With Drift the review is fast because the clerical work is pre-done: ideas arrive named, sorted, and grouped by area, so ten minutes of pure decisions really is enough. Inbox zero for ideas is a real feeling, and it is addictive.
